About
BayramOulu Research is a research-driven company focused on physical-layer wireless communication algorithms and waveforms, radio propagation, and resilient energy generation.
Based in Oulu — a city with a long heritage in radio and wireless research — this independent, one-person practice takes on engagements ranging from short expert reviews of a few days to multi-month development projects.
We are also looking for partners to bring in-house developed solutions to the market.
Services
Engineering, consulting, and training
Engineering
Hands-on design and implementation: algorithm development, modelling and simulation, prototyping, and verification.
Consulting
Independent expert advice for R&D teams: feasibility studies, architecture reviews, literature surveys, and second-opinion reviews of algorithms and system designs.
Training
Tailored courses and workshops for engineering teams, on site or remote.
Research Areas
Research areas
Wireless baseband algorithms and waveforms
Physical-layer signal processing for radio systems, in particular ISI channel equalization, MIMO detection, FTN waveform design, time-difference-of-arrival estimation, and radar detection.
Radio propagation
Physical optics and ray tracing based radio channel modeling, near-field to far-field (NFFF) transformation for active antennas in particular, and novel and accurate scattering models for various materials.
Resilient energy systems
Micro combined heat and power generation systems (~10 kW) from locally available resources, i.e. wood, even in crisis situations — but not through wood gas.
Education & Training
Courses and workshops for engineering teams
Tailored training built around individual needs. Topics might range from detection theory to multiresolution signal processing, or from uniform theory of diffraction to physical optics.
Portfolio
In-house developed solutions
MIMO detection with ultra few multiplications, multi-rate equalization of ISI channels, and practical FTN waveforms as an alternative to higher-order modulations.
Materials
A full list of publications, preprints, and some previously used teaching material is under preparation.
